sometimes, you need that bit of ....

Woke up today, thinking about the number of conversations I've had with my friends after I've made known to them that I'm moving to somewhere unfamiliar.

I've a handful of encouraging statements, and of course, those who dissuade me. Both groups of people care for me, I know, which is why they made their concerns clear.

Here're some I really liked:

"Do what that does not fail the heart, cheat the mind and escape the eyes."

"I thought you have already decided? If you have, tell the people around you would need the support and cherish the last mth in sg, nth will change, and when u r back, u will be better and this time u are not going anywhere anymore."

"Don't do things to please others because they may not do the same for you. If you're not happy, people around you won't be, and there is no point living in negativity."

"The way I see it, your friends and family are the people who would wish you well and would genuinely like you to find happiness. If not going means letting yourself down, they would feel equally or more disappointed should you not go. And then YOU would be letting THEM down."

"At the end of it, you're living for yourself and it's not your friends who have to experience your regrets or ambitions. If your gut tells you that it's what you want, then you have to follow it."

"so what i am driving at is, if you are really 100% convinced and driven to do this, you would do it, and everything else would become secondary. if you are certain you wanna do it, your parents will support you whatever..and you just have to have faith that your mom will get used to it..no parents want their kids to leave home..but it is all a part of growing up.."

"One thing I know for sure, when we are away from each other, we are definitely will be working hard and making sure we are using these time to work hard for our future and spending time broaden our horizons, do things we have never done before. So please go without worries to a new place new lifestyle, leave the worrying to us. The worry about you."

I'm only sieving out a few that wrote to me, there're a 26 brilliant comments, and 20 other letters or messages from very good friends that gave me strength. The last one came from an email from my boyfriend and that meant quite a lot to me.

I also remembered those who didn't say much, but just encouraged me to do what I feel I should do, and will be happy for me no matter what. They brought me through the phrase of thinking whether I should go, or not, helping me see things clearer, then leaving the final decision to me.

I just want to express my appreciation, and I have truly made up my mind, gained the final support I needed, and am ready to take up the challenge. I need to pen down what I need to achieve while based overseas, so that in the process, I need to remind myself my goals.

To people who're reading and don't know what the heck I'm doing, I guess it doesn't really matter. I am sharing the POV of a person who's moving, and on the basis that a job is still a job, one that's based in overseas doesn't make it very different.
Things that I need to write, I will still blog.

What's left to do? Collect my hardcopy medical reports, get my needed vaccinations, prepare administrative duties and packing to the last bit!

In less than a week's time I'm going HongKong!!

Gonna blast all my money on mainly food and a few makeup items.
Eat until I fat fat then I can come back.
Going disneyland because my boyfriend aka the kiddo loves it :) Making our friends see if they can tag along too!

Packing can be tough this time since it's back to back.
Mom bought me a sliding wardrobe ( can see the last one CMI already), so i'm unpacking everything from there as I pack for HKG and then when I return for HKG, pack again for relocation.

Packing queen.

Into local food nowadays, because I find no point spending on restaurant already!

the awesome chai chee porridge at bedok 85 is our all-time favorite.
Will request to add an egg in our pork porridge.

The minced meat noodles (i go to the one on left) is also another known hot favorite.
Go for $3 bowl for more meatballs.

Lastly, the clams at Chan BBQ isn't all that good. That plate is $10, lots of meat, but I can taste bits of particles (dirt) and all, so I prefer the one at Serangoon chompchomp where Joyce always brings me :)

Met Shermaine from CookieCourier again, since she had something to share with me!
Way excited when I saw the honey cornflakes, one of my favorites during CNY/Hari Raya.

Not to forget, she has customised her own fried spring rolls.
Pork floss ones for those who are not into the traditional spicy prawn rolls :)

I'm going to open them up tomorrow to share with my family so I'll let you know how they taste in another entry!

Met Hannah after Shermaine and settled down at Sho Teppan for dinner.
Babe had the Salmon (Fried Udon) and I had the Wagyu Beef Sukiyaki ( with rice).
Yummers, love dipping my beef into raw egg!

Settled for coffee @ Starbucks with the new york cheesecake.
Never the fan of cheese, but found the texture rather smooth :)

Instax!

Dragged her to Watsons and wanted her to shop sanitizers with me, only to find out that she's a even bigger fan of drugstores!

I bought Dettol for Hong Kong and Kirei Kirei to try!
I love Kirei Kirei's foam hand soap and this one has really cute packaging, has a light scent too.
Going to stock in more!

As for present exchange, here's what we got each other.
I got her a lip color that's awesome to apply on.
It's pinkish red when you apply the first layer, and if you will want a darker shade of red, apply multiple coats. Lip colors that are buildable are great because you only need one lippie to carry!

Doesn't it look awesome- that snowflake?
This gift gives her my blessings for her next interview :)

Hanz got me a load of stuff that are great for my mobile.
The case is customised by her ( love it!!!) and the Rilakkuma cap cover that she got me had me shrieking in joy.
