Did coffee @ Antoinette as Becks is the first to leave - she left yesterday!
becks
Hoping that everything goes well for her when she's there, and she'll be able to have fun before the rest of us joins! :)

Did a reunion meet up with my ex-colleagues at Zi Yean Restaurant, Redhill.

Was full house on Friday as many people were starting to have their reunions.
Starter: Crispy BBQ pork
P1030644

Doing the Lou Hei the right way, and everyone seemed excited!

A video of the lady server who helped us with words of fortune and blessings;

The mess created!!

all the other chinese dishes we had were pretty good!

P1030660
The steamed garupa (hope i got that right!) in soya sauce is really good.
I had fish cheeks for the first time - fleshy and soft!

P1030662
fried (with brown) rice!

P1030663
P1030665
one of the best dishes of all - Fried prawn fritters ( bean curd skin wrap)

P1030666
P1030667
Thai style chicken

Dessert was Hashima.
P1030669
They said that the hasma were dried fallopian tubes of frogs...
Whatever they are, they are said to have more nutritional values than bird's nests.

A group picture to end the day;

Being the youngest of the group, I always get good advice and get doted on.
Am very fortunate to know this group of friends through my short stint in IBM year ago:)

CNY day 3 -
we took really little photos as the days passes :p

Jusco - HK's version of Daiso. Spot me in the picture!
_MG_8731_MG_8732
everything at $12 (S$2)

While I had to do my mini shopping session, JS and PY settled for egg tarts at Tai Cheong again!
_MG_8736
Tell me why are HK's MTR stores so fantastic pleaseeeee.

Queued for dim sum store (fast food style) in the MTR compound;
_MG_8737
_MG_8739
They do really good veggie pork bun and siew mai (pork dumplings).
I went to google about Siew Mai and people call it the Chinese form of tapas haha, nice!

Took a train to Tung Chung, Citygate outlet stores.
It will take 30 minutes train ride from town.
_MG_8742
I was surprised it's a mall, I kept thinking they're flagship outlet stores like Aus'.

Grabbed coffee 'cos we were all suffering from holiday burnout lol.
_MG_8746

Said to have over 80 international brands (double click to enter mall directory) here - from sports (adidas, nike), lifestyle stores (samsonite), fashion retailers (burberry, coach, kate spade).
_MG_8747
_MG_8748
Kinda boring for us because we didn't plan to get anything, and JS didn't find his sports shorts here so we left after PY got her kate spade item for a friend.
No more outlets for me!

Hopped to Kwai Fong - Metroplaza
_MG_8749
I love this place, found my converse @ around S$28.

There're fantastic food stores on the top level of the mall next to Metroplaza.
It's the older mall called Kwai Fong Shopping Center.
It has very good budget shopping on the lower floors (something near S$10 for a sweater)
and on the higher floors - an air-conditioned "food street"!

Fruit juices are really cheap! We tried the mango with pomelo and it taste great!
Ditching my usual mango dessert place, 许留山 'cos this place does mango drinks at only HKD8 ($1.50)?
Hui Lao Shan does it for HKD36 (around S$6)
We wanted to try the durian drink which was well-raved but they sold that out for that day. Only S$2!

all my HK favorites;
_MG_8755_MG_8752
curry fish balls (鱼蛋)
_MG_8757
The black pepper sausage is the BOMB! We tried all 3 (including the original and chili) but black pepper wins all hearts!

Hopped over to Mongkok (again) because we were planning to meet Jess&Jake at a steamboat place!
_MG_8759
Doing happy lemon there, bubble teas are really cheap there. Going for S$1-S$2.
They have brands like Share Tea and Gong Cha too.

Met for 小肥羊 steamboat buffet!
Went for the yin-yong(鸳鸯) pot that serves both chicken and spicy broth.
_MG_8761
I like the Ma La (spicy) base better, the chicken one tastes like... your myojo maggie soup :(

There's buffet so we chose that!
_MG_8763
_MG_8762
Very good sukiyaki meat
_MG_8767
A picture of my bestie and her hubby <3!
It was their first wedding anniversary that night so I was very grateful that they chose to spend their night with us :)

If you asked me to compare, I would prefer the satay steamboat that I had at Causeway Bay half a year ago. Not sure of the exact location though...
Still glad I tried Little Sheep since I've heard so much about the Ma La pot :)

小肥羊 (Little Sheep)
16 Argyle Street Mong Kok, Hong Kong

Had Five Generations Dessert that night as all of us wanted to try a new dessert house.
_MG_8768_MG_8774
JS looking sly while everyone looked great!

The girls <3!
_MG_8776_MG_8779
the creepy boys :x

Egg dessert which I first said I didn't wanted to have but turned out to be the best custard dessert I ever had! It's whipped so well before it was chilled, so the pudding stays soft like bean curd :)
_MG_8780
_MG_8783
Am so full you can check out my tubby and double chin.
Lost all of that within a week in SG!
_MG_8788
Yummers, you got to give it to Hong Kong for good dessert boy!

A platter of four of the top sellers. I think the custard egg still takes the cake.
_MG_8784
_MG_8790
Has pure durian puree in the warm choco cake!

_MG_8791
Whipped volcanic cake dessert.
Cream is made of pure egg whites :)

Can only find the Chinese address so I tried my best to translate it:

五代同糖
九龙旺角山东街38号38广场1楼2号铺
( 38 Shandong Street, Mongkok, Kowloon)

Got to go to JS' place for steamboat round 2 and then to my uncle's place for steamboat round 3! Yummers, I know what's waiting for me, the abalones!!!! :D
Happy CNY all, have a prosperous year and most importantly, have good health and be happy!
I'm going to blog very regularly since I have so much to blog before I go so if you are bored, you know you have me to read :)
