HK 2012 - Day 2
This is what happens to the start of your day when your boyfriend decides to take random snapshots;
likeaduck.
I realized I had missing double eyelids in this picture - when I'm tired, I either have single or triple eyelids. Pretty awesome LOL.
Cruising by such a scenery every day when we're there. We were on a shuttle coach from PY's place to the nearest MTR station.
Awesome egg tarts at Tai Cheong Bakery.
They have a main branch at Central and this is the other outlet at Tsing Yi.
They're best eaten when they're hot from oven, sadly this trip, we only had warm ones :(
Still good, when the center is slightly watery and soft, and the buttery crust is to-die-for.
I'm not a fan of local based egg tarts because they tend to be hard, so this is a must have when I'm in HK.
Taking the mini bus (小巴) to Sham Tseng (深井) for Roast Goose.
Mini buses are the small yellow buses seen below. Seats 16 pax, with strictly no standing passengers allowed. You can alight anywhere (safe) as long as you let the driver know in advance by telling him.
Mini buses have speedometer, so they don't pass limit beyond 70.
Hongkong is pretty moutainous no?
Yue Kee (裕記)
9 Sham Hong Road, Sham Tseng, New Territories
set menu which allows you to order quarter/half/whole goose + 2/3/4 side dishes + soup.
Rice not inclusive in package.
We're loving the cartoon goose logo!
Soup and goose comes first :)
I think half is really big, for 4-5 pax but 3 of us decided somehow to challenge having it.
Mouthwatering fatty roasted goose meat in our mouths.
These definitely taste better than duck. Duck's dry, but the goose meat here is thick, well roasted and high in fat. Crispy goose skin is the highlight ( like Peking duck's skin?)
I know the famous once-Michelin appointed is Yung Kee @ Wellington, but we wanted to try if this is good too. I think I really like the goose meat here but the portion we ordered is just overkill and oily maximum. Perhaps I will just do a plate of roasted goose rice for each pax next time.
The soup is the deal man. Lotus soup with pork.
Hot soup = good for winter.
Yummers.
Veggie is the one that pales out in comparison when it comes to side dishes ( i hate how tough they were) but the rest were also commendable
(steamed tofu with scallops and corn with egg white fried fish fillet, i like the former best!)
I can't remember how much we paid but it was really reasonable. I goes it's less than or around S$30 per pax. A goose meal @ Yung Kee will cost much more I think...
JS is amazed by how HK-ers do their celebratory notes for their neighborhood;
:)
Took mini bus to Marinetime Square mall for some light shopping.
Ever seen Cotton On selling winter clothes?
Not me, at least not in SG.. :p
Coats are S$40 here.
Bought my furry jacket here for HKD148 (S$24) because Bershka had winter sale.
I know I shouldn't have bought another (until I head Europe) but the price is too alluring!!!!
JS bought shoes for around $30 from Zara sale.
天理何在?
That's the price of my Converse!
Rilakkuma and Korilakkuma's heat pack holder. Can't believe they have holders for that use..
Creative!!
Now you see it...
now you don't?
Took a train to Tsim Tsai Tsui East then exited to K11.
It's a shopping mall which houses many concept stores and in addition, it's also an artyfarty place.
It's said to be the world's first art shopping mall :)
Here's a Mona Lisa art piece made with toasted/painted bread:
Smells nice when you put your face near it:p
When I saw this, I was jumping up and down trying to get either of them to take a picture for me.
Tokidoki Unicorno!!!!! :D
I'm crazy over tokidoki stuff, gahhhh i must go Japan end this year!
A pretty watercolor eiffel painting.
There are several art pieces placed on each level, and there's a writeup each to explain the pieces exhibited. I guess they will change the artwork from time to time.
Chinchin found chinchin's store!
JS' surname, someone once called him chinchilla, *chuckles*
Concept/abstract designer clothing stores on every level.
The main reason we are here is to help a friend purchase a billing ham camera bag which cost cheaper in HK. Actually most electronics are cheaper here!
Everytime JS passes by an electronic store, he will check out the price of MBP and look at me with a sad, sad expression LOL! We bought the MBP 4 days before HKG.
Settled at Holly Brown cafe for coffee. PY has friends who recommended this place, so we decided to check it out! Branches are both in K11 and Elements Mall (Kowloon).
A good variety of chilled/hot caffeinated and non-caffeinated drinks (like chocolate, etc).
They serve really good ice cream on waffle cone and awesome looking ice cream waffles platter ( which we didn't get to go again to try *disappointed*)
LOOK AT THAT BUBBLEGUM COLOR MAKES ME THRILLED.
I was dead tired after so much for lunch, so I had to order a coffee over ice cream.
The iced mocha is mine and it's the best mocha i've had.
Fragrant coffee with strong chocolatey taste, yums!
Byebye to mocha frap when you have good iced mocha!
Happy campers!
Though we can't camp too long:p
Spotted Agnes B cafe but I didn't get to go in because we had to hurry to our next destination!
Walked to Lung Shing as it was one of the items on my list!
I heard they do cheap toiletries/cosmetics/skincare so I went on to see.
Jess actually told me to skip this because she doubts I will get to buy much here, which was true.
I only got applicators, sponges and a lip balm in the end.
Lung Shing Dispensary
28 Granville Rd, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon
I still highly recommend people to come here to stock in their stuff before going to counter. They have very little branded makeup though... like the only ones I spot like Clinique and Shiseido.
You will probably also see Tony Moly, Bodyshop, My Beauty Diary masks selling at a fraction of the store price.
Also other stuff which you can find in SASA/Bonjour, you can find them here. Not sure if they're cheaper than the mentioned, but Lung Shing shouldn't be selling more expensive.
Lightshow which we watched from a higher platform.
The last time JS and I were here, we went to Avenue of Stars to watch the dynamic light and laser show. I felt that Avenue of Stars allow you to watch it from a closer view, but due to the crowds on weekends, I think the place we chose will be a better choice for a wider view.
Anyway, pictures sucked because it was too windy and was raining so I kept my camera after a few shots.
Will upload iPhone taken video later :)
Walked to get dinner at Triple O's, the best fish fillet burger I've had in HK.
Yums, fresh fish and yummy soft bread = must have!
Their chunky fries are good too.
Triple O
3 - 27 Canton Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, , Kowloon, Hong Kong
HC mall has the "sweetest" displays during Jan - a chocolatier's tour!
spamming photos unknowingly because the displays looked awesome!
canoeing on an eclair! LOL.
I got to know PY through JS because of canoeing (in uni) and the entire group stayed very close to date, the feeling's nice whenever we meet at different places.
It'll be even better when they come to visit me later in the year!!
Walked to Avenue of Stars to enjoy the chilly winter weather, when the drizzle finally stopped :)
Extracted from Wikipedia, "Along the 440 metre promenade, the story of Hong Kong's one hundred years of cinematic history is told through inscriptions printed on nine red pillars. Set into the promenade are plaques honouring the celebrities.
The promenade commands a stunning panoramic view across Victoria Harbour. At night it is a popular viewing place for the Symphony of Lights display."

Lastly, a picture of my favorite statue that night - MACDOW (click to link video)
love him to bits 'cos he is irritating like this LOL!!!
Day 2 blogging is a breeze.. day 3 soon!! :)
CNY is gonna be a headache cos I have a lack of clothes to wear and I didn't shop retail this year :(
Hope you have gotten your apparels already and enjoy reunion later!
For non-chinese friends, enjoy the long weekend! :)
