BKK day 3- April

hello! I'm so sick and tired of my current state of health - being ill for such a long time is no joke.
Thought I was well enough to do my London trip but on the way back, I was so ill that I had to visit the company doctor before going back home.

On the other hand, I have 6 days rest anyway, so it's a good time to eat and sleep on demand :D

Erika and I were home a couple of days before I was in London so I was talking about how much I missed oyaku-don and chawanmushi when she decided to run a search on the receipts and try to cook them for dinner!

a sumptuous japanese cuisine spread

we used whatever ingredients we had (trust me, buying ingredients here, esp asian stuff are tough) and luckily mom sent me some japanese seaweed which are really useful!

I'm not sure how Erika does this but the chawanmushi is of the right watery texture and the oyaku-don taste simply delicious (even better than sushi-tei!)

Need to pop by some good japanese restaurant soon, meanwhile, I'll continue with pictures when I was in Bangkok.

Sunday - Chatuchak

Took a BTS to Mo Chit, which is the nearest BTS stop, takes us less than 15 minutes to get there.

Some subway entertainment by a kind street magician performing free for kids ;)

This is how much a man loves his job, an occupation which readily brings smiles and laughters.

Had milk tea float by MacD's, awesome stuff on a warm day in BKK.

Pass by this street stall that sells 3D pop-out display and this pirate's ship caught my eye. Bought one of another design for one of my best friends.

Entering the familiar weekend market made me squeal with joy!
Been here last July so it's more than half a year.

Choosing some ugly dolls which are rather cute really :)

Bought some roasted pork as snacks while we shopped.

It's weird that there isn't much crowd on Sunday compared to Saturdays, so I decided the next time I do the weekend market, it shall be on Sundays :)

Stopped by for a quick lunch of noodles for 30baht (1.25SGD).

For a Singaporean, a crowd draws attention!

the most fanciful coconut ice-cream (with coconut meat/fibre, sticky rice and nata - you could choose your own "sides"). Interesting ain't it?

Caricature art!

While waiting for our turn (approx 30 mins long wait!) Think it was 100baht or so, which is really cheap!

I insisted on a twist! I highly doubt it looks like me, but good effort on beautifying it!

JS' turn..

heh, his picture looked like hossan leong, no? :x
Told him not to frown when the artist is drawing his facial expressions LOL.

Lastly, a good massage to end this day!

A handmade crane I got from a really old and frail granny by the street, my heart goes out to her as I prayed for her.

Aromatherapy for 2 pax - my masseuse was too soft on me so I wasn't really satisfied. Next time I'll demand for one that does a better job! :)

I'll do London in the next post!
