Batam I - 2011

I had a very kind reader who met me and handed me a box of homemade cookies as a Christmas pressie for me! :)

To help her realise her dreams of becoming a baker, I've decided to put these pictures up of her really pretty cookies (note: she didn't wanted to advert or anything :o)

JS took my chocolate chip cookies away the moment he saw it, while I was grateful to see cranberry shortbread cookies!
What will I recommend getting?
The shortbread isn't too sweet yet has this nice buttery taste, and I love the texture of the mini cranberries! I'll get JS to feedback on the #1 selling choc chip the next time :)
You can get them boxed up as Christmas presents, or approach her to get pineapple tarts for CNY.
Thanks Shermaine from CookieCourier !
I hope you can realise your dream of becoming a full time baker with a reputable bakery :)

Batam I / 2011

I am back from my short getaway!
JS really wanted a good massage after his SC full marathon, and Batam seemed to be the fastest available choice!

We booked our trip using deal coupons because they are priced at a fraction of what we would usually pay.
It's inclusive of 2D1N Harris Room, 1 x bowling game each, 1 x breakfast each, 1 x 1 hour H-spa indonesian massage at Batam Waterfront Resort.

We collected our tickets from Falcon Ferry (which Harris linked up with) and got our tickets!
_MG_7344
Well, we boarded at Habourfront, not Tanah Merah.. :p

JS looking trololo-ly excited!
When it comes to ferries, I think Batamfast has the nicest, but Falcon's impressively clean.
You can even smell the sanitized scent in it.

Was playing the app 'Where's my water' (alike to 'Cut the rope') so time flew really past.
Ferry time was 1 hour or so.

Arrived at the peaceful Batam Waterfront Center.

Me in my mustard dress.
JS kept teasing me, saying that if I can ever find a pair of mustard jeans that I look good in,
I'll wear it out.
I mean, I would if I could carry it off!

Passed immigration counters, met our guide there.
We didn't know that we had a half day tour (like seriously, I thought we'll be whisked off by Harris shuttle) but since it was 1030am when we arrived, we just followed.

Yes, I looked annoyed 'cos the bus looked miserable, and so am I.

It was really tiring that day 'cos JS and I fought over some stupid issue the other night,
so we only managed to sleep at 2am with less than 4 hours of sleep.
_MG_7368
Still my favorite boy no matter what:)

We really had a guide from Best tours!
_MG_7371
She's quite fun to be with, but JS was pissed with her 'cos she mixed up our departure ticket for some reasons. That got us ver worried cos the departure portion of the white card, and the departing ticket wasn't at where she said it would be.
Will elaborate the next entry!

Arrived at the first stop, Batam Layer Cake.
Apparently, Batam has a few factories that does kueh lapis and this is one of them.
_MG_7378

I bought it during my previous trip, but wasn't really a fan because their version is less moist, texture's more chiffon-cake alike which I didn't like.
I prefer Singapore's version of kueh lapis, which is slightly harder, but moist. :)

I had a rude shock when I saw the black stuff on this one,
JS told me that they're prunes. LOL.

Freshly made and baked.

JS is like any Singaporean, food tasting king #1.

Can see how sian (bored) I am, while JS is monkeying with the toothpick -_-"

Lunch is settled at 933 Prawn.
I know that lots of tour groups will pop by here for seafood lunch, and it's priced at S$15/pax for 6 dishes including crabs, clams and etc.
_MG_7398
We sat near the pond area.
They also served bird's nest for S$15 a bowl, I was interested initially but we didn't have much time to enjoy it after lunch, so we killed that idea.

FANTA STRAWBERRY rocks my sockssss!
_MG_7400
Luckily I didn't order Coke, because its Coke isn't F&N's coke, but King Cola.
>:(

A whole bucket of rice for the 2 of us? :D
_MG_7402_MG_7397
The me on the right should be one whom's laughing at the King Cola thing.

We didn't take the sets 'cos I had bad tummy and refuses to take seafood, so we only ordered what I could eat.
Already cost us 95,000Rp, which is S$13.50.

Went to Yong Heng's outlet snack store as our 2nd stop.
To be honest, I only wanted to go Nagoya (last stop) for grocery shopping so I just followed the group to these few stops, arghhhh!

Found some interesting fish balls!
_MG_7406_MG_7407
JS told me they're for kids and I was jokingly saying that they looked like food for fishes.

Food tasting King #1 reappears!!!
_MG_7408
Banana chips that wasn't as fragrant as the KL ones :(
_MG_7410
Again, I bought NIL and JS bought 2 packs of fish snacks back.
Lucky for us, because the bus wasn't working properly, we had changed a new tour bus which is comfortable and looked great for a tour!

2nd last stop was factory outlet and batik print stop.
_MG_7414
Steph wanna fall asleep on the bus already...
_MG_7413
Popped by to get a men's cardi from Polo RL.
Factory labels include Pull&Bear, Nike, Polo RL, Adidas etc.
Polo RL isn't cheap there except for the polos (which are even cheaper at the outlet @ ferry terminal), our item was like S$80.

Nagoya Mall!!! :)
_MG_7426
The stop that I was waiting for.

Brought JS to walk around.
You could get food for less than Rp10,000 (S$1+) here in their restaurants.
Other than that, shops include its departmental store, and stores that sells really nice toys.
I bought my Sanrio stuff there :)
Carts usually sold imitation goods, like watches, wallets and so forth.
_MG_7418_MG_7420

Finally our rushed grocery shopping before we got ourselves A&W as afternoon snack :)
_MG_7421
_MG_7424_MG_7428
Root beer float + 2 packs A&W curlywurly fries :)

We gathered and was driven back to our resort where I finally got to stay at the new wing room!
Will post pictures next so stay tuned! :)
