sometimes, you need that bit of ....

Woke up today, thinking about the number of conversations I've had with my friends after I've made known to them that I'm moving to somewhere unfamiliar.

I've a handful of encouraging statements, and of course, those who dissuade me. Both groups of people care for me, I know, which is why they made their concerns clear.

Here're some I really liked:

"Do what that does not fail the heart, cheat the mind and escape the eyes."

"I thought you have already decided? If you have, tell the people around you would need the support and cherish the last mth in sg, nth will change, and when u r back, u will be better and this time u are not going anywhere anymore."

"Don't do things to please others because they may not do the same for you. If you're not happy, people around you won't be, and there is no point living in negativity."

"The way I see it, your friends and family are the people who would wish you well and would genuinely like you to find happiness. If not going means letting yourself down, they would feel equally or more disappointed should you not go. And then YOU would be letting THEM down."

"At the end of it, you're living for yourself and it's not your friends who have to experience your regrets or ambitions. If your gut tells you that it's what you want, then you have to follow it."

"so what i am driving at is, if you are really 100% convinced and driven to do this, you would do it, and everything else would become secondary. if you are certain you wanna do it, your parents will support you whatever..and you just have to have faith that your mom will get used to it..no parents want their kids to leave home..but it is all a part of growing up.."

"One thing I know for sure, when we are away from each other, we are definitely will be working hard and making sure we are using these time to work hard for our future and spending time broaden our horizons, do things we have never done before. So please go without worries to a new place new lifestyle, leave the worrying to us. The worry about you."

I'm only sieving out a few that wrote to me, there're a 26 brilliant comments, and 20 other letters or messages from very good friends that gave me strength. The last one came from an email from my boyfriend and that meant quite a lot to me.

I also remembered those who didn't say much, but just encouraged me to do what I feel I should do, and will be happy for me no matter what. They brought me through the phrase of thinking whether I should go, or not, helping me see things clearer, then leaving the final decision to me.

I just want to express my appreciation, and I have truly made up my mind, gained the final support I needed, and am ready to take up the challenge. I need to pen down what I need to achieve while based overseas, so that in the process, I need to remind myself my goals.

To people who're reading and don't know what the heck I'm doing, I guess it doesn't really matter. I am sharing the POV of a person who's moving, and on the basis that a job is still a job, one that's based in overseas doesn't make it very different.
Things that I need to write, I will still blog.

What's left to do? Collect my hardcopy medical reports, get my needed vaccinations, prepare administrative duties and packing to the last bit!

In less than a week's time I'm going HongKong!!

_MG_8353_MG_8867
Gonna blast all my money on mainly food and a few makeup items.
Eat until I fat fat then I can come back.
Going disneyland because my boyfriend aka the kiddo loves it :) Making our friends see if they can tag along too!

Packing can be tough this time since it's back to back.
Mom bought me a sliding wardrobe ( can see the last one CMI already), so i'm unpacking everything from there as I pack for HKG and then when I return for HKG, pack again for relocation.

Packing queen.

Into local food nowadays, because I find no point spending on restaurant already!
JS and I went bedok 85 to look for our favorites!

the awesome chai chee porridge at bedok 85 is our all-time favorite.
Will request to add an egg in our pork porridge.

The minced meat noodles (i go to the one on left) is also another known hot favorite.
Go for $3 bowl for more meatballs.

Lastly, the clams at Chan BBQ isn't all that good. That plate is $10, lots of meat, but I can taste bits of particles (dirt) and all, so I prefer the one at Serangoon chompchomp where Joyce always brings me :)

Bought my authentic HoH black sunburst necklace from revolve and got it a week later!
Thanks to a lovely girl who shared the shipping with me (min. USD100 for free shipping).

Met Shermaine from CookieCourier again, since she had something to share with me!
Way excited when I saw the honey cornflakes, one of my favorites during CNY/Hari Raya.
P1030518
Not to forget, she has customised her own fried spring rolls.
Pork floss ones for those who are not into the traditional spicy prawn rolls :)

I'm going to open them up tomorrow to share with my family so I'll let you know how they taste in another entry!

Met Hannah after Shermaine and settled down at Sho Teppan for dinner.
Babe had the Salmon (Fried Udon) and I had the Wagyu Beef Sukiyaki ( with rice).
Yummers, love dipping my beef into raw egg!

Settled for coffee @ Starbucks with the new york cheesecake.
Never the fan of cheese, but found the texture rather smooth :)

Instax!

Dragged her to Watsons and wanted her to shop sanitizers with me, only to find out that she's a even bigger fan of drugstores!

I bought Dettol for Hong Kong and Kirei Kirei to try!
I love Kirei Kirei's foam hand soap and this one has really cute packaging, has a light scent too.
Going to stock in more!

As for present exchange, here's what we got each other.
I got her a lip color that's awesome to apply on.
It's pinkish red when you apply the first layer, and if you will want a darker shade of red, apply multiple coats. Lip colors that are buildable are great because you only need one lippie to carry!

Doesn't it look awesome- that snowflake?
This gift gives her my blessings for her next interview :)

Hanz got me a load of stuff that are great for my mobile.
The case is customised by her ( love it!!!) and the Rilakkuma cap cover that she got me had me shrieking in joy.

thanks love!!

++ I still have of pictures not uploaded but I'll quickly do so before I embark on my HKG trip.
Till then, have a good Friday chilling and relaxing!

it's 2012!!!

I have been pretty busy slacking this week and I'm so not used to work already.
My weekends were spent lazing in bed with JS, eating lots and watching a movie!
Have you caught Mission Impossible 4? I love how it uses iphone (talk about easily relating to the movie) and that it sets its scenes in Dubai in the later part.
Tom Cruise is incredibly suave and fit as usual.

I fix 3 simple resolutions this year:
1) Be richer (by knowledge and by savings)
2) Be stronger (physically & emotionally)
3) Be more sensitive (to my loved ones - friends & family).
Easier said than done, so better do it steph!!!

Starting off with some instragram pictures. Haven't been really active cos I was lazy :S

1. First movie of the year + miffy instax :>
2. hot pink gelish nails with my girls + 9gag reader which is an addiction to read
3. lao ban tau hway x 15 boxes

QQ chilled tau hway is definitely not my thing man...
The texture and taste is nothing compared to Lao Ban or 51. In fact, it didn't taste good IMO :(
P1030355
I feel 51's taste and texture is closer, but still Lao Ban wins hands down!
I think JS finds me weird sometimes, like I definitely have to try to find the best for whatever that's 'trending'. :X

01.01.2012
Sneaked out on for dinner and made sure I wear nicenice to start the year off!
P1030473
Initially wanted a thai restaurant for dinner, but lured by MacDonald's when we walked past it.

Ended up with Macdonald's for dinner... lol!!
P1030479
P1030482
We had the Prosperity meal because I know JS has been wanting it since it reappeared end last year.
The meal was huge - there's the burger, curly fries, apple pie, orange fizz and FOC MacD's red packets!
Filled to the brim man...

Burger > Thick beef patty dunked in generous black pepper sauce.
I only managed to finish 2/3 of it :(
P1030484

ORANGE FIZZ ( i dont know what this is called formally)
The first time I had it was when Joyce ordered and I took many sips of it!
P1030483
It's orange + sprite/soda, just really addictive!

Brisk walked via Citylink to Esplanade;
P1030488P1030491
Will definitely miss watching musicals here :)
I think Singapore has a high standard of music theaters and halls, given Esplanade and MBS.

JS and I rested our feet at Häagen-Dazs for dessert.

Chocolate Midnight Cookies + Strawberry Cheesecake + Cream Brulee (seasonal flavor) with 1 piece waffles.
Gosh their waffles and ice cream are so good!!!

For the new year's piece, I wore out a gorgeous embellished piece from FlyMeToParis
1_MG_8134
A matte satin piece, this dress is beautiful yet incredibly comfortable to wear!
The shade's really dark navy, something like a midnight color, that makes it easily look like an expensive piece.
The v-neck and bottom tier cut is extremely flattering, size S fits me good (and snug) :)
The workmanship is great, a mixture of pearls, beads and crystals are well-sewn.
Never regretted this piece in this very pretty color!
IMG_0326IMG_0400
Classy piece to wear to weddings, dinners or parties for the navy blue, and i guess the pink will be another great color for girlies parties or high tea!

Skinny Pizza - Xmas gift exchange '11
Lastly, a post from last year that I would love to include here!
Most pictures are stolen from Wendy and Yina's blog entries (thanks girls!) :)
IMG_8133
A table for 7 girls (we were missing Noi who had work commitments!)

Joyce and I were late 'cos I was at her office before that and she had remaining parcels to mail out that day. Again - committed blogshop owner *salutes*.

When we arrived, Joyce flashed her twelvecupcakes to make the girls happy.
Sugar = Happiness for girls,
which is why whenever I'm seriously late and in trouble, I'll try to buy the person bubbletea as compensation :X
P1030431
The salted caramel one wins hands down. I haven't tried the red velvet one!!!

the english breakfast pizza shared by Joyce and I 'cos the rest had their fill already.
Latecomers eat alone ok!!
P1030433
Love the bacon and egg combination, else I think the squidink seafood skinny is good too!

the girls very mean one. I told them that mine was a paper weight and they took it seriously and draw a :( face on it.
Instead of feeling :(, I was in my evil spirits so I kept smirking to everyone saying they should count their blessings, who knows who would geddit!
MAHAHAHA.

Like a wicked child>>>
IMG_8176-1
This picture freaked myself out actually!
They call this my real side. Tsk tsk.

Self shots!

After multiple times of picking names, we finally got the right ones!

The most effort present goes to Nancy...

I think mine is really pretty leh :(

it's a musical box and all these tiny decor in the center goes in circular motion when you wind it. Luckily Fel like it *phew* so we managed to do an internal swop!

Thanks to my loveable girls for the awesome company!
I never knew online friendships can be so sweet, so nice and finally, special thanks (i know its usually it's our wendy <3) who have always been planning our meetups!

from thetinselrack

I love anything quirky and unique and this is everything I love!
From the button sleeve details, waist band, to the capped sleeve.
Great for casual meetups and shopping :)
I fit S snugly for your gauge ( i have wide ribs so the banded waist fits me snugly!)
TTR still has yellow left FYI! :)

Have a good rest of week!
I'm left with quite a bit of packing to do with a new cabinet coming next week and HKG packing!
